Very Rare Cane War Shield , Boa, Zaire - 6685

This fantastic cane war shield was in use by the Boa, Hanga, Mongelima, Angba, So and other tribes residing in North West Zaire, on the borders with the republic of Central Africa. It is a 44 inches high, 16 inches wide, masterpiece of braided rattan work. The handle is carved from a single wood block and attached to the shield back center with rattan binding. The last photo below was taken in 1901, showing a group of Boa warriors holding similar shields. Very good condition. Two corners of the handle block are cracked but it holds well. Add 25.00 Dollars for delivery with courier services (Due to the length it will not go in regular mail services).
