Rare Bedouin Style Jambiya Dagger from Hadramouth, Yemen - 14801


An Abdi style Jambiya dagger from Hadramouth in South Yemen, also known as "Bedouin style" or "Gusbi". Characterized by the upswept tip of the scabbard, sometimes higher than the dagger pommel. 7 inches curved blade with a pronounced central rib. I shaped horn grip with silver decorative mounts. Leather covered scabbard mounted with highly decorated silver locket and silver chape set with many red stones (glass ?) and withy many brass tacks. Total length 13 inches. Very good condition. Very impressive Jambiya. Late 19 or early 20 C.
