This is a classical very fine example of the famous Khyber sword coming from Afghanistan. The heavy massive blade is 23 inches long and more than 2 inches wide with a pronounced T spine. The bolsters and grips straps are steel, engraved with a signature in Arabic letters probably the owner name. The grips are horn with good age patina. Original scabbard with engraved silver locket and chape. Total length 28 inches. Very good plus condition. Like in the classical swords of this type, the blade goes all the way into the scabbard and only the pommel end of the handle is exposed. Very impressive authentic and complete sword. Late 19c.
