A very rare example of a dagger from the island of Mentawai, eastern Sumatra also known as Palitai. 10 inches double edge blade with 3 inches clipped tip. wood handle. Engraved wood scabbard. Chased silver bands on the scabbard and chased silver pommel. Total length 17 inches. Very good condition. The silver cap on the pommel is a later replacement to cover for a breakage of the long wood pommel. Very scarce dagger.
