This short knife is a typical knife from the Maldives Islands located in the Indian ocean South east of India. It is characterized by the upswept pommel tip. In general it has some resemblance to the Piha Kahetta from Sri Lanka. This exemplar is from the early 20 C., with a 5 1/2 inches solid blade set with engraved spine. The grips and pommel are bone and the handle metal bands are Aluminum. Simple wood scabbard. Total length 11 inches. Very good condition. Small edge damage on the blade. A very scarce item.
