This Yemenite Jambiya dagger from Sana'a is also know as Thouma and it is carried mostly by high ranking peoples in the Yemenite society. The blade is 8 inches long and 2 1/2 inches wide. Double edged and with a central rib. The handle is dark horn decorated with steel nails and mounted with imitation brass coins. The scabbard is large with very fine gilded silver filigree work. This Jambiya comes with its original wide belt adorned with silver accessories also with fine silver filigree work, partially signed. Total length of belt 34 inches. Very good condition. The tip of the locket is slightly damaged. Rare and authentic Jambiya, early 20 C.
