Very Fine Moroccan Nimcha Sword with Ivory Handle Dated to 1296 ( 1878) - 14543


Up for sale is this very fine Nimcha sword from Morocco. Finely forged blade with gold inlay decoration 35 inches long, dated in gold to 1296 (1878 in the Gregorian calendar). The handle is carved from a massive piece of elephant ivory (Rare), set with enameled silver collar. The hilt guard and down curving quillons are steel with gold koftgari work. The scabbard is wood covered with the original green velvet and mounted with finely chased and enameled silver mounts in blue/green and black. Total length 42 inches. A fine piece of quality in very good condition. Very minor losses to the gold inlay.
