Rare Niabor Dayak Sword, Borneo - 6573


This very rare sword is coming from Kalimantan (Borneo) and was used by the sea Dayak. It is also known as Niabor or Parang Niabor. its heavy massive blade is 22 inches long, up-curving and with 8 inches false edge. It is almost ½ inches wide at its base. Stag horn L shaped hilt carved in a very delicate design, bound with twisted brass wire and brass rings and set with black and white hair tufts. The scabbard is wood with reddish lacquer cover, bound with braided rattan strips. Good condition. The tip of the horn grip is re-shaped. The scabbard has seen few repairs during its life time, all old. Uncommon Sword.
