Authentic Fine Knife / Axe of the Mangbetu Tribe with Ivory Grip - 14420

The knife of the Mangbetu people residing in Central Africa was originally used as a weapon of war and also as an agricultural implement, but later on developed into luxury item and a symbol of status. One of the photos show a late 19 C drawing of Munza the king of the Mangbetu on his crown, holding high a similar knife as a symbol of power and authority. This one is a late 19 C., sickle shaped. 10 inches (point to point)very well forged blade, 15 inches total length. The handle is ivory. Very good condition. Very good age patina on the handle.
