Very Rare Sickle Shaped “Execution” Sword of the Lia - 14363

This rare type of sword is coming from the Lia people of Congo. Mostly ceremonial in nature but reminds in a way similar and larger swords common between the Ngombe people of central Zaire. There are many legends concerning the use of such swords for execution. Either it is right or wrong, it is definitely a very interesting sword and always was regarded as a symbol of status. This one is definitely too small and too light to be used for execution but it is a fine and rare piece of its kind. Very well forged blade, nicely decorated , 15 inches long. The hilt is wood. Very good condition. Nice patina on the blade and the handle. Minor wood crack and small chips on the handle.
