Igorot Dagger / Spear Head Philippines - 6544

The Igorot people from the mountainous region of Luzon in the Philippines uses this dual purpose blade, as a dagger or as a spear head. It is also known as Hinalung. The heavy blade, spear shaped is 10 ½ inches long, 2 inches wide beautifully forged in one piece with the handle. The grip is covered with braided rattan fibers. In its Dagger form it is housed in an open wood scabbard, total length (in scabbard) 17 inches. It is easily converted to a spear by mounting the hollow handle acting as a socket on a wooden pole. A very unusual item in a very good condition. One of the rattan bindings of the scabbard is missing. |
