This small beautiful knife is of Turkish origin and known as Bichaq. It has a single edge blade 7 inches long engraved and dated 1272 in the Islamic calendar, which corresponds to 1855 in the Gregorian calendar. The hilt is black enameled (Niello) and gilded silver with “ears” in the Yatagan handles style. The scabbard is wood, covered with green velvet and mounted with chased brass mounts with a big “Dolphin” classical Turkish scabbard tip. Total length (in scabbard) 12 ½ inches. Very good condition. The left “ear” is very slightly bent. All parts are original (except the later velvet cover). Offered here at a very attractive price.
