GURADE Saber / Sword from Ethiopia - 6527


The GURADE is the Ethiopian saber. They usually have European imported blades, mounted with typical Ethiopian horn hilt. This specific one has a 31 inches long 10 mm thick blade at its base, with three fuller. Probably of European origin but without any marking. The hilt is three sectors of horn with contrasting colors. The scabbard is tooled leather, with an up-curving tip typical to the Ethiopian sabers. Total length 37 inches. Good condition. Few small pitted spots and old sharpening signs on the blade and few edge nicks. The tip of the scabbard is worn and slightly damaged.
