Very Fine Khanjarli Dagger with Wootz Blade - 14084


The Khanjarli, one of the rarest and most sought after dagger in the Indian weaponry. It is characterized by its strongly re-curving blade and wide lunette shaped pommel. This one is a very fine example, with an 8 1/2 inches multi-fullered blade forged from Wootz (watered, Damascus) steel gold washed at its top area. The lunette shaped pommel and grips are Ivory, riveted to the tang with silver rosettes. Original scabbard covered with fabric and mounted with gilded and pierced silver mounts. Total length 14 1/2 inches. Very good condition. Lightly damaged scabbard. A very fine piece.
