Greek Kindjal Sword Dated 1888 - 6512

Yes, the Greek used a very specific (and quite rare) form of Kindjal sword. It is characterized by the short cross-guard just below the grip. (None of the other Kkindjals, Caucasian, Persian or Turkish has a similar cross guard). Also the blade shape and cross section is a different from the classical Kindjal. We offer for sale such one rare piece, with 21 inches heavy blade, single edged with 7 inches back edge and narrow fullers just below the spine. The blade is engraved on both sides. Birds and fish motives on one side and Greek inscriptions with the date of 1888 on the other side. The grips are horn set with brass nails and the grip strap is brass. The scabbard is covered with black velvet and mounted with brass, chased with fish design. Very good condition. Few darkened areas on the blade but no real pitting. The scabbard is most probably later to the sword itself.
