Late 19 C. Qama Short Sword - 6478


We offer for sale this impressive Qama, Of Georgian origin, late 19 century or earlier. The big heavy blade is 21 inches long, and almost two inches wide. It has three fullers on each of its faces, and it is signed with a deep and crisp maker stamp. The front face is heavily inlaid with silver (True inlay NOT koftgary decoration). The fullers are etched with floral design. Horn grips riveted to the tang. Wood scabbard with the original leather cover with a compartment for a small utility knife (now missing) and steel ball tip. Total length 28 inches. Very good condition. Minor battle scars on the blade. Hair thin crack on the grips horn. Less than 15% of the silver inlay is missing. Scabbard Leather a bit age worn. Fabric repair near the tip and scabbard seams partially open.
