We offer for sale this superb, very good example of an 18th C. Persian Jambiya. The 8 inches curved blade is forged from excellent Persian wootz (Damascus) steel with reinforced edges and beautifully chiseled hunting scenes on the forte. The hilt is a solid piece of walrus cut entirely from the marble like inner sector of the ivory tusk and carved in the classical ‘I’ shape. Wood scabbard with the original fabric cover but a recently made silver tip. Very good condition. Very nice age patina on the ivory. The darken lines on the hilt are very thin and natural cracks along the borders of the ivory sectors. It is NOT a defect but a result of the old age of the ivory.
