Ottoman court Dagger Dated 1722 - 6431


This superb dagger is also known as Ottoman Court Dagger. it was a side arm of the nobilities visiting the courts of the Ottoman empire in the 17 and 18 C. The blade is 11 ½ inches long with a central rib tapering to an acute tip with a thickened tip and decorated with gold koftgari design with the Islamic year of 1135 (1722). The grips are horn riveted to the tang with three silver capped rivets and set with three stones on the pommel. The grip strap is engraved silver. the scabbard is wood covered with its original dark red fabricand original central strap. The locket and chape are old but later to the scabbard. The scabbard tip is set with recent stone setting. Total length (in scabbard) 17 inches. Very good condition to its age. Few pitted spot on the blade edge. Very small chips to the grip horn slabs.
