This very fine kard knife is Indian probably North India, Mughal period, 18 C. or earlier. Very fine wootz (Damascus, watered) steel blade, 12 inches long, forged in one piece with the bolsters. Gilded copper handle with a horse head pommel, with the eyes set with red stones. Fabric covered scabbard (later). Total length 16 ½ inches. Very good condition. Very minor edge nicks. Beautiful item, well representing the Mughal art in India.
