The mother of all Parangs. Up for sale is this monstrous exemplar of the Parang Nabur sword from Kalimantan (Borneo). 40 inches long (compared to the 28-30 inches length of the more common ones). Deeply up-curving heavy blade 33 inches long, widening to its maximum width near the tip. The tip is finely filed and pierced. The handle is horn with checkered design and the cross guard and D guard are brass. Very good condition. Late 19 C. It is shown below next to a more common 29 inches exemplar.
