This superb and attractive Shamshir is of Indian origin, probably mid 19 C. The curved wootz blade is 31 inches and of real wedge shape cross section. Steel hilt with a pommel styled as animal head and so is the D guard. Fine leather covered scabbard with gold koftgari decoration. Total length 36 inches. Very good condition. Only part of the gold koftgary on the handle is worn. A fine sword for the connoisseur collector.
