Fine Large Turkish / Kurdish Wootz Jambiya Dagger - 13861

A dagger of fine quality and decoration, of Turkish origin, most probably from East Turkey, with strong Kurdish / Iraqi influence. Late 19 Century. Very good 9 ½ inches curved blade forged from Sham (Low contrast wootz) steel. Dark wood hilt mounted with silver collar, pommel and grip strips and a central grip medallion set with turquoise stone. The scabbard is whole silver on wood, rich in filigree decoration. Maker (or owner) name is soldered in silver wire to the back of the scabbard. Total length in scabbard 21 inches. Very good condition. A fine piece. |
