Authentic Axe of the Mangbetu - 13795


The knife of the Mangbetu people residing in Central Africa was originally used as a weapon of war and also as an agricultural implement, but later on developed into luxury item and a symbol of status. This one is a fine early 20C.,with a sickle shaped. 11 1/2 inches (point to point) blade, very well forged with an old label. The original blackening of the steel with the polished edges is maintained. Wood. Total length 15 1/2 inches. Very good condition.
