Fine Persian Kard Knife with Curved Blade - 13781

Kards with curved blades are a rare version of the Persian / Indian Kards. This one is of Persian origin, late 18 – early 19 C. Massive blade, down curving with the edge on the concave side, forged from very fine, dark, high contrast wootz (Watered, Damascus) steel. Walrus ivory grips (cut from the inner core of the tusk) and steel bolsters and grip strap, finely etched with traces of gold inlay. Blade 9 inches, total 14 inches. Very good condition. Minor damage to the grip strap. |
