Up for sale is this Yataghan sword, Balkan origin dated on the blade to 1254 (1838 in the Gregorian Calendar). Classical shaped blade 24 inches long, decorated with silver koftgari inlay with inscription in Arabic letter and dated. Walrus Ivory grips with big pommel ears. silver plated copper grip strap and bolsters, set with ribbed coral stones and red stone on the bolsters. Scabbard covered with fabric and set with chased brass locket and chape (later). Total length 31 1/2 inches. Very good condition. Minor pitted spots on the blade. Lightly dented scabbard's mounts.
