Sword Club of the Massim People, Papua-New Guinea - 6386
It is very seldom that you see such rare items on the market. This late 19 Century war club is called club sword and it is coming from the Massim people in Papua-New Guinea. The 24 inches long piece has a 17 inches long, 4 ½ inches wide blade. It is carved from an Ebony like hardwood, beautifully carved. See also: G.C. Stone, Glossary... Page 184 . A real piece for the connoisseur of Ethnographic artifact and the weapon collector. Very good condition, Few age cracks on the blade. The lime powder that was used to be inserted in the carving is now mostly gone.
