This is a superb example of a Khanjar from India, representing almost the top in workmanship and quality. The 10 inches long, curved and reinforced edges blade of top quality wootz is only a part of the uniqueness of this piece. The pistol shape Ivory grip is a masterpiece of workmanship. It was inlaid with thousands of tiny green black and white ivory pieces each less than 1 mm (1/32 inch) in size. A lifetime work.. Unfortunately some pieces are lost and a half-inch size area on one face of the grip is missing. Also small other areas lost minor pieces and some of the remaining areas are separated from the base Ivory but still hold tight. A real unique piece of art, dated probably to the early 18 C.
