18 c. Ottoman Court Dagger - 6383


This superb dagger is also known as Ottoman Court Dagger. it was a side arm of the nobilities visiting the courts of the Ottoman empire in the 17 and 18 C. The blade is flat with a central rib, 9 ½ inches long, tapering to an acute tip. It is forged from good Damascus steel, but needs polishing and etching to bring out the pattern. The grip is walrus ivory pierced at its center and the scabbard is wood covered with black leather (recent), ending with a small ball tip. Total length (in scabbard) 15 inches. Very good condition. Few pitted spot on the blade. a small chip and very old repairs on the pommel.
