Very Fine Wootz Karud Dagger - 13561


A very fine ‘KARUD’ (the common name for a ‘Pesh-Kabz’ with straight blade). from North India or Afghanistan, early - mid 19C. A very fine wootz blade 15 inches long with acute point and reinforced T spine and edge. The grips are massive elephant ivory with good age color. The grip strap and bolsters are also forged from wootz steel (of somewhat lesser quality than the blade). The scabbard is wood covered with finely tooled leather (Original) and mounted with a large chased silver chape. Total length (in scabbard) 21 1/2 inches. Very good plus condition.
