Fine Persian Shamshir Sword with Wootz Blade - 13556

This is a classical Persian Shamshir sword, late 18 – early 19 C. Very fine curved blade of wedge cross section, forged from fine high contrast wootz (Damascus, watered) steel and decorated with gold inlay design. Steel cross guard finely chiseled with hunting scenes. Bone grips with steel grip strap and pommel cap. original wood scabbard with black leather cover and steel belt rings also finely chiseled and a brass tip (later). Blade 31 inches. Total 35 inches. Very good condition. |
