Persian Qajar Khanjar Dagger with Carved Walrus Ivory Hilt - 13545


This Khanjar dagger is Persian, Qajar period, early - mid 19C. The blade is 9 inches long, curved and double edged, forged from very fine wootz (Damascus. watered) steel of good contrast and clear pattern. The grip is carved from a massive piece of walrus ivory carved in a typical Qajar style with human figures and inscription in Arabic letters. Leather covered scabbard (later) with chased brass chape. Total length 15 inches. Very good condition. Very minor chip on the pommel side.
