This fine Shamshir sword is Indian. Mid 19 C. or about. Massive single edge blade, may be of Persian origin, 32 inches long, forged from very good wootz steel. Steel cross guard also forged from wootz steel. Bone grips and silver pommel cover. Scabbard with black leather and big pierced silver locket and chape. Total length 38 inches. Very good condition. The leather cover of the scabbard is a later replacement. Small loss to the silver strip seam on the scabbard.
