This very fine kard knife is Persian, 18C, Probabaly Safavid period. Fine wootz (watered, Damascus) steel blade with high contrast pattern. The blade base, grip strap and the bolsters are also finely inlaid in gold in a reverse pattern. i.e The background is inlaid with gold whereas the inscription is left in black steel. All true inlay. Walrus Ivory grips with good age color. Original leather covered scabbard with ivory tip. Blade 9 inches. Total length 16 inches. Very good condition. Old crack on the right grip with old repair. Rare complete piece.
