This Kris is Malay, early version, probably late 18 to early 19 C. The fine blade is forged from twisted steel core, forge welded between high carbon steel hard edges. Blade length 18 inches wavy at its top and straight on its lower half. One silver clamp is reinforcing the blade in the handle. The grip is covered with an intricate arrangement of twisted and braided silver wires. Ivory Cockatoo style pommel. Total length 23 inches. Very good condition. Fine age patina on the pommel. Its upper tip was replaced, but the patina on the chipped area suggest it is an old repair. No scabbard. A rare form.
