The Pulwar’ is the Afghan relative of the Indian Tulwar. The Pulwar hilt has a very distinct shape, with down curving quillons. The one offered here for sale is a very fine and unusual fighting sword, with British Enfield blade 35 inches long. The steel handle is of typical quilon shape with a ball shaped beautifully ribbed pommel (scarce version) and very fine pierced hand guard with Arabic inscription. It has black leather scabbard with steel mounts. Total length 45 inches. Very good plus condition. A rare European style sword in shape and decoration.
