Old Dayak Wood Shield, Kalimantan (Borneo) - 6362


This rare wood shield is coming from Kalimantan (Borneo) and is most probably of the Kenyah people of The Borneo Dayak group. Cut and carved from a single piece of wood, this fantastic shield is painted in the classical style known as Kenyah - Kayan and decorated with multiple tufts of black hair on its front face. Total length 53 inches. Maximum width 16 inches. Very good condition. Small wood chips around the edges and few hair tufts are missing. A rare find and a prize for the collector of tribal art / weapons.
