The Shi people residing in east Zaire, near the Tanzania border carries this typical unique sword with straight, double edge blade, with pronounced central rib. This one is a very good exemplar. Slender blade 24 inches long. Hardwood handle and scabbard densely bound with twisted brass and copper wires. Total length 29 inches. Very good condition. Minor losses to the wire binding. Mid 20C.
