Rare Sword of the Bumali People - 13283

This unusual and rare sword is used by the Bumali people from Central Zair. Its shape is developed from a similar shaped throwing knife. Bird shape blade with an inserted copper “eye”, 12 inches wide and 17 inches long, with raised ribs and geometrical design engraving. Wood handle bound with copper and brass strips. Total length 21 ˝ inches. Very good condition. Nicked blade. Late 19 – early 20C. |
