This battle axe looks very much like Indian saddle axe, yet the gold decoration and the haft may suggest a Balkan Ottoman or East European origin. The heavy steel blade is 3 inches wide, finely decorated with gold koftgari work The haft is 24 inches long covered with faded blue velvet and mounted with steel mounts also decorated en suite with the blade. A very interesting and attractive axe.
