Very Good Ottoman Kilij with Twisted Steel blade - 13184

This sword is known as Pala or Kilij. It is Turkish, early 19C. with a vgood curved blade 30 inches long, with a 10 inches false edge. It is forged from fine pattern welded steel in a pattern known as Turkish Ribbon, composed from layers of twisted steel rods. This pattern was common to fine Turkish blades from the 17 C. and on. Nice old ivory grips with good age patina, Brass grip strap cross guard. The wood scabbard covered with original black leather, with spiral stitching, mounted with brass mounts and rings.Total length 36 inches. All parts are original, Very good condition. A solid age crack to ivory.
