Very Rare Rattan War Shield, Kota, Zaire - 6337


This fantastic shield was in use by the Kota, Saka, Ntomba and other tribes residing in central north Zaire. It is a 54 inches high, 18 inches wide, masterpiece of braided rattan work bound around two central poles. The front side is painted in red and white geometric pattern. The handle on the rear side is carved of hard wood. Very good condition, All parts and painting are original. Only very few rattan strips are broken or torn. It is very rare to find such a complete piece in such a condition.
