A Good Ottoman Yataghan from North Africa With Rhino Horn Grips - 12991


This rare form of Yataghan, with the lobed pommel is usually identified as North African, probably Algeria. In addition, most of these Yataghans will come with rhino horn hilt grips, as is the case here. Fine down curving blade, 25 inches long, with maker mark in a shape of a running animal?. The grips strap and bolsters are silver covered pewter. The leather covered scabbard with spiral stitching and chased brass mounts in a fish scale pattern. Total length 32 inches.
