Old Kirach Sword from the Bikaner Armory - 12989

A very rare form of the Indian sword is the Kirach. Its blade is heavy, single almost straight edge, but with a forward curved spine. The older Kirach sword will usually come with the heavy Hindu style basket hilt. Later ones are found also with the Islamic Tulwar style hilt. This piece is probably late 18 – early 19C. The heavy 34 1/2 inches fullered blade is of a typical shape of such swords. It is marked with the dotted armory catalog number typical to blades from the Bikaner armory. The basket hilt is steel and the grip is covered with leather. Total length 41 inches. No scabbard. Very Good condition |
