Very Fine Persian Qajar Revival Sword. - 12978


We offer for sale this very fine Persian straight sword from the Qajar period. Early 19C. This type of swords is also known as Revival sword, as it was reviving the use of old 15 C style Islamic straight swords. The beautiful blade is 29 1/2 inches long, 2 inches wide with spatula shaped tip, finely forged from very good quality watered steel (Wootz, Damascus). The blade is marked with gold inlay panels (True inlay) with inscription in Arabic letters. The hilt is chiseled steel, with down curving quillons bearing traces of old gilding. Very good condition. Very minor and shallow pitted spots, easy to polish.
