This small size Shamshir sword is Turkish, mid 19C. or earlier, made for a youngster. The single edge curved blade is 26 inches long, forged from sham steel (Turkish / Syrian wootz with very low contrast pattern). The grips are rhino horn and the cross guard is finely chiseled silver. The original scabbard is leather covered with spiral stitching and the mounts are gilded silver. Total length 31 inches. Very good condition. Blackened spots and areas of shallow pitting on the blade.
