Parang Ginah Sword of Unusual Shape - 6303

A sword of extremely rare form, the Parang Ginah is coming from Malaya. It is usually a sickle shaped heavy blade, but this one has a very uncommon blade with up-curving tip. It is huge 18 inches long, forged from good steel, most probably of laminated construction, with heavy impressive steel bolster. The hilt is turned wood. 30 inches total length. Very good condition, several forging flaws on the blade. Age crack in the wood handle which later was filled with resin and bound with cotton thread. Either it is a weapon or an agricultural implement is not really clear, but this form of sword is very much thought after by Far East weapon collectors.
