Very Good 18 C. Pata Gauntlet Sword, India - 12811

The Pata Indian gauntlet Sword that was evolved from the Kattar push dagger and was in use during several centuries in India. This one is probably early 18 C. with a 37 inches double edge thin and very flexible blade. The hand gauntlet is made of brass in the form of a hand with small bells and rattlers. Total length 49 ½ inches. Good condition. Nicely patinated blade with few minor pitted areas. There are few holes in the handle, the purpose of which is not very clear. The blade was possibly added later but it is early as well. No scabbard. A rare and impressive item.
