Early 19 C Ottoman Turkish Scissors / Dagger - 6299

We offer for sale a very unusual item and although not really a weapon, it is usually displayed in the Ottoman weapons section in private collections as well as in museums. It is a pair of scissors originally used to cut papers in the very well developed calligraphy art in the Ottoman courts. However its blades are shaped like a dagger and can be used as such if needed. The narrow blades are 7 inches long, with slender back fuller and very acute point. The handles are brass and very highly decorated with gold koftgary work. Total length 10 ½ inches. Excellent condition. An authentic and fine early 19 C item. |
