Two Handed Thai Dah Sword with Presentation Engraving - 12791

This Dah sword is Thai, late 19 – early 20C. Blade 24 inches long. Beautifully chased silver covered handle with silver wire mesh grip and onion shaped pommel. Filigree silver covered scabbard. Handle is 12 inches long. Total length 37 inches. Very good condition. Traces of grinding on the blade. Minor dents on the handle. The handle of this sword is engraved in Japanese , and a later on added engraving in English that reads: TO MR. BAIRGFATH? THE C.C. OF TENGYUEH, FROM: P. M. TAO BROTHER OF KANAYS 15.2.19?4 . We assume that this dah has passed hands during the second world war or a bit later. |
