Fine Unusual Indian Shamshir Sword - 12732

Here is a very rare and Unusual Indian Shamshir sword.
The 31 inches long blade is forged from good quality pattern welded steel but of low contrast and inlaid with gold inscriptions on the base. The beautiful handle is made from gilded copper in a form of a makara head and the down curving quillon terminals and hand guard are formed in a shape of makara heads as well. The eyes are set with Turquoises stones. The wood scabbard is covered with yellow faded velvet and mounted with two nice gilded copper mounts. The sword has its original red carrying cord. Total length 37 inches. Very good condition. Late 18C or early 19. a rare impressive and elegant sword. |
